CE.I.S. Livorno ETS Impresa Sociale is a non-profit social enterprise based in Livorno, Tuscany, active since 1978 in the field of addiction and social marginalisation. It was founded in response to the need for reception and treatment of young people with substance dependency, initially through a community-based approach combining residential life, distance from urban environments and manual work. Over time it developed residential therapeutic communities for adults with substance use disorders, including those with co-occurring psychiatric conditions, and accredited services in Tuscany. In 2000 its three areas of work were separated into legal entities covering residential treatment, youth prevention and aggregation, and reception for people living with HIV in high marginalisation. In 2011 the association became a social enterprise, and it is registered in the national Third Sector register. Its current work includes gambling and substance-use prevention in schools and nightlife settings, street and mobile outreach, family support and parenting programmes, psychological support, and job-integration pathways. It works in collaboration with the regional health authority, municipalities, Ser.D. services and other third-sector organisations, mainly in the Livorno and wider Tuscan area.
