CERCIOEIRAS

Founded in 1975, CERCIOEIRAS is a non-governmental organisation based in Barcarena, Portugal working on disability, education, employment & skills.

CERCIOEIRAS is a social solidarity cooperative based in Oeiras, Portugal, founded in 1975 by parents and rehabilitation professionals. It works to promote the rights, autonomy and social and professional inclusion of people with disabilities and/or incapacities, particularly people with intellectual disabilities. Its integrated services cover education and rehabilitation, occupational activities, residential support, home support, social and family support, and inclusion projects in the community. It is recognised as a cooperative of social solidarity and of public utility, and is certified by the Instituto António Sérgio. Its work is financed in part through cooperation agreements with the Social Security Institute and the Ministry of Education. The organisation also runs awareness activities, including the publication of the inVISÍVEIS comic book, and participates in European Erasmus projects.
