Conservación ConCiencia is a registered non-profit organisation based in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It conducts environmental research and conservation work and promotes sustainable development. The organisation works with communities, NGOs, governments, academia and the private sector, using an interdisciplinary approach that combines life sciences, societal welfare and economic security. Its focus areas include protected area systems, biodiversity and ecosystems, fisheries, livelihoods, climate resilience and management effectiveness. It also runs citizen science and community organising efforts, and has worked on shark tagging and marine conservation in Puerto Rico. Its stated mission is to implement science-based conservation actions that move societies towards sustainability, and its stated vision is a world where nature can thrive, economies prosper and people flourish.
