About

Founded in 2004, CSI Gaiola onlus is a non-governmental organisation based in Napoli, Italy working on nature & wildlife conservation, heritage, science & research.

CSI Gaiola onlus is a non-profit association based in Naples, Italy, founded in 2004 to study, protect and promote the natural, historical and archaeological heritage of the Gulf of Naples. It manages the Centro Ricerca e Divulgazione (CeRD) of the Parco Sommerso di Gaiola marine protected area, located on the Gaiola islands near the Pausilypon Roman archaeological site. Its work combines scientific research with educational workshops, training, cultural events and guided visits for citizens, students and visitors. It is the responsible body for the StAMM project, which aims to restore a villa on the islands as a marine monitoring station and to involve volunteers in environmental protection and the fight against illegal activity in the protected area. The organisation works in partnership with the Naples Archaeological Superintendency, the University of Naples Federico II, the Naples Coast Guard and International Napoli Network.
