About
Founded in 1908, Dannebrogs-Samfundet is a non-profit association based in Brøndby, Denmark working on heritage.
Dannebrogs-Samfundet is a non-profit, non-political Danish association founded in 1908 to promote knowledge of and proper use of the Dannebrog flag as a national symbol of Danish culture, community and identity. It distributes flags and banners to associations, schools, kindergartens, veterans' groups and other organisations, runs the annual Valdemar's Day flag sale on 15 June, advises public authorities on flag questions, provides courses and lectures on correct flag handling, and publishes information material through its flag knowledge centre. Its work is carried out largely by volunteers and is financed by membership fees, flag sales and grants from public and private foundations and companies. The association is organised nationally with a head office in Brøndby and local associations across Denmark.
