Danube Fund (Dunajský fond) is a platform for better quality of public spaces and a richer life on the river Danube. It has been run as a programme of the Central European Foundation (Stredoeurópska nadácia) since its launch in 2015. The fund focuses on the Slovak section of the Danube, including its branches and the Little Danube. It creates space for discussion and information sharing among stakeholders operating on the river, runs an annual grant call, the RiverLab working group, the Danube Fund Forum and the Solstice on the Danube events, and works on tourism potential research, education on the river's cultural heritage, public events and project planning. Its goals are set out in the Danube Fund Charter: enabling safe contact between people and the river, improving conditions for movement along and across the river, protecting wildlife and natural ecosystems, strengthening relations between neighbourhoods, cultures and nations, and balancing human activities with cooperation.
