The Data Economy Policy Hub (DepHUB) is an independent, registered non-profit think tank based in Johannesburg, South Africa, with a pan-African footprint. It conducts public interest research and aims to influence policy and regulatory decisions on the data-driven digital economy, data governance, artificial intelligence and sustainable digital development. Its work focuses on mitigating intersectional inequities and supporting inclusive data ecosystems, responsible technology governance and digital trade in sub-Saharan Africa. It offers market research, public policy analysis, technical capacity building and advisory services, and has provided technical assistance to policymakers and regulators in sub-Saharan Africa. The organisation was founded by an Indigenous African woman and draws on a multidisciplinary team from academia, industry, the public sector and civil society.
