De Danske Omsorgsklovne
Lystrup, Denmark
About
Founded in 2020, De Danske Omsorgsklovne is a non-governmental organisation based in Lystrup, Denmark working on elderly care, disability, mental health +1 more.
De Danske Omsorgsklovne is a Danish non-profit association (almennyttig forening) and NGO, formerly named Danske Plejehjemsklovne until its name change in 2025. It works to spread the use of professional care clowns across the elderly care and care sectors. Its professional clowns visit nursing homes (plejehjem), residential institutions (bosteder) and people living with dementia, as well as adults and children with developmental or functional disabilities. The association receives no public operating funding and relies on membership fees, private donations, foundation grants and corporate partnerships. Its visits are primarily in Central and West Jutland, with an aim to expand across Denmark as funding allows. Visits are offered free of charge to institutions where possible, and the association also runs projects, research and lectures with municipalities and cultural institutions. It is based at a secretariat in Lystrup. It works from the values of respect, dignity, curiosity and presence.
