Defence for Children International Greece is the Greek national section of Defence for Children International, a global child-rights organisation founded in Geneva in 1979. Based in Athens, it promotes and protects children's rights in Greece, guided by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. It provides direct legal assistance and child protection services to refugee and other vulnerable children, including children on the move, homeless children and children deprived of liberty. It also runs a Human Rights Academy offering training to professionals, monitors and documents children's rights violations, carries out strategic litigation and advocacy at European and international levels, and takes part in international child-rights initiatives on migration and refugees.
