Deutsches Museum Nordschleswig

Deutsches Museum Nordschleswig is a non-profit association based in Sønderborg, Denmark working on heritage, arts & culture, education.

The Deutsches Museum Nordschleswig in Sønderborg, Denmark, presents the history, culture, schooling and identity of the German minority in Northern Schleswig, covering themes such as the 1920 plebiscite, the border demarcation and the Nazi period. It is run by the registered association Verein Deutsches Museum Nordschleswig and is housed together with the Deutsches Archiv Nordschleswig, which holds original sources on people, associations and institutions of the minority. The museum was rebuilt and reopened in August 2020 with a new exhibition arranged over several floors, including a section on art by Northern Schleswig artists. It offers guided tours, educational programmes for school classes and group visits, city walks and events, and the archive offers research access by appointment and digitised holdings via arkiv.dk.
