About
Founded in 2001, DFA Danish Friends of Animals is a non-profit association based in Denmark working on animal welfare, nature & wildlife conservation.
DFA (Danish Friends of Animals) is a non-profit animal welfare organisation based in Denmark, founded in February 2001. It is run entirely by volunteers. DFA rehomes dogs and cats from shelters abroad, mainly in Greece, Portugal and Spain, to adoptive families in Denmark, and places adopted animals only after a home visit and an adoption contract. It sends volunteer veterinarians abroad to neuter stray animals and funds shelters and feed. In Denmark it advocates for stricter animal welfare legislation and a dedicated animal welfare police unit, and runs neutering projects for stray cats. Funding comes from donations, membership fees and legacies. Members receive a magazine twice a year and annual general meetings are held.
