Diritti al Cuore ONLUS is an independent, self-financed volunteer association based in Rome, Italy, with operations in Senegal and Gambia. Founded in 2005 as a medical campaign of the association Energia per i Diritti Umani, it works on health, education, women's and children's rights, non-discrimination and non-violence. Its activities include medical missions, health prevention campaigns in Dakar's peri-urban areas, sponsorship programmes, microcredit for women in Senegal, and migrant health and awareness projects in Italy. It also runs training courses for international volunteers and participates in the European Civil Service and the Servizio Civile Universale programmes. The association is supported mainly by individual donations, the 5x1000 tax scheme, membership fees and fundraising events.
