It was created in 2005 to help producers of electrical and electronic appliances meet their legal obligations under Spanish waste regulation. It operates within the Recyclia network alongside Tragamóvil, a mobile phone recycling initiative that provides public collection points in shops, municipal civic amenity sites, universities and shopping centres across the country. The foundation also runs environmental awareness campaigns and publishes information on recycling for consumers, distributors and producers.
