It serves as a common platform for expedition operators and stakeholders in Nepal, working to advance best mountain practices and the betterment of the industry. The organisation promotes climbing and mountaineering while valuing fragile mountain systems, the local economy and vulnerable communities. It also assesses, catalogues, conserves, manages and mitigates hazards on peaks in the Nepalese Himalaya, and cooperates with stakeholders on responsible expedition operations in India, Pakistan and the Tibet Autonomous Region of China.
