FERC
Foundation for the Education of Rural Children
Chiang Mai, Thailand
About
Founded in 1999, FERC is a charity based in Chiang Mai, Thailand working on education, children & youth.
FERC is a non-profit foundation founded in 1999 and run entirely by volunteers. It provides scholarships that enable students from low-income families in rural Northern Thailand to finish upper secondary school, so they can avoid leaving school at 15 and gain better career prospects. Its volunteers receive no compensation, and sponsor contributions go to the sponsored student. Donations also fund students without a sponsor, support sponsorships that end early, and cover minor administrative costs. The foundation is registered in Thailand and governed by a Board of Directors headed by its founder, Marc Henri Dumur, Honorary Consul of Switzerland in Chiang Mai.
