About
fokus frauen is a grant-making foundation based in Zürich, Switzerland working on gender equality, peace & conflict, human rights +1 more.
fokus frauen is a non-profit foundation based in Zurich, Switzerland, established through a private initiative. It funds selected projects run by third parties and projects it initiates and accompanies, aiming to strengthen the participation of women and girls who are affected by discrimination, oppression and poverty, so they can exercise their social, economic and political rights autonomously. Its focus areas are conflict and peace work, women's rights, the prevention of violence and discrimination, socially responsible economic activity and environmental protection. Projects are designed ideally by local women's organisations, are long-term and sustainable, and are intended to serve as models. The foundation works mainly with women-led partner organisations in the Global South and Eastern Europe, emphasising knowledge exchange, networking and the adaptation and replication of successful projects so that women become multipliers of their ideas. It is politically and denominationally independent, takes a feminist approach, and is guided by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international instruments. Its funds come from the foundation's capital and are used for specific purposes.
