The Fondation pour la démocratie directe is a Swiss crowd foundation established in 2020, the first of its kind in Switzerland. It supports civil society initiatives and referendums and encourages political participation. Its work is financed by individual donations and corporate patronage, and it aims to fund projects that rely on values such as human rights, social justice, legality and sustainability. The foundation operates the WeCollect platform, which offers free digital tools for launching popular initiatives and referendums, and the Crowd Lobbying platform, which sends collective messages to parliamentarians. It also campaigns for digital democracy and for a strong public service broadcaster, SSR. Donations are administered by Association Public Beta, based in Basel, and its secretariat is located there.
