Fondazione Cumse is an Italian non-profit foundation, founded in 2000 by volunteers and formally established as a participatory foundation in 2010. It works in international development, focusing on health in Africa, where it has built and supports hospitals, an orphanage, water wells and a school, mainly in Cameroon, and also operates in Chad, Congo, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Egypt. In Italy it runs programmes against poverty, including food aid through the Prima il Pane initiative in partnership with the Banco Alimentare della Lombardia, and the SaNP project supporting people affected by new forms of poverty. The foundation also carries out education and awareness activities to build support for global solidarity, recruit donors and volunteers, and encourage companies and public institutions to back development cooperation. It is based in Cinisello Balsamo, Lombardy, and is supported by individual donations, corporate partners and public funding.
