Fonden Danske Veteranhjem
Odense C, Denmark
About
Founded in 2010, Fonden Danske Veteranhjem is a foundation based in Odense C, Denmark working on mental health, community development.
Fonden Danske Veteranhjem is a Danish public-benefit foundation founded in 2010. It runs six veterans' homes (veteranhjem) in Aalborg, Fredericia, Aarhus, Odense, Slagelse and Copenhagen, providing free, welcoming places where veterans and their families can gather, take part in activities, and receive support, help and recognition, including for those with physical, psychological or social challenges after deployment for Denmark. The homes are not treatment facilities; they coordinate with the Veterancentret, regional and municipal treatment services and private providers. The foundation runs camps, after-school cafés for children and events such as Flag Day for Danish deployed personnel, and offers the Veteranportalen app. Day-to-day activities are carried out by local associations relying on volunteers, with a staffed secretariat and paid heads of each home. Operations are funded mainly by the Ministry of Defence, foundations, public grants and private donations.
