Forum za slobodu odgoja (Forum for Freedom in Education, FSO) is a non-profit, non-governmental and non-partisan civil society organisation based in Zagreb, Croatia. Founded in 1992 and registered as an association in 1998, it works to align Croatia's education system with the standards of modern democratic societies, based on principles of choice, equal access and self-realisation. Its work includes professional training seminars for teachers and school staff, mediation and violence-prevention programmes in schools, socio-emotional learning and mental health programmes for children and youth, civic education, school governance development, youth participation projects, research and policy work with decision-makers at national and EU level, and publications for educators. It runs creative competitions for students, volunteer programmes, and international projects, many funded by EU programmes. The organisation is an accredited conciliation (mediation) institution, accredited by the Croatian Ministry of Justice since 2013. It reports having trained over 10,000 primary and secondary teachers.
