FOSIT, the Federazione delle ONG della Svizzera italiana, is a recognised non-profit association of public benefit registered in the Ticino Commercial Register. Founded in 1999, it brings together around sixty non-governmental organisations from Italian-speaking Switzerland that work in international development cooperation and humanitarian aid. FOSIT supports its member NGOs through funding calls for development projects drawn from Ticino and federal sources, training and courses, and a university-level Certificate of Advanced Studies in cooperation and development with SUPSI. It also promotes the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Switzerland and internationally, and runs awareness activities on North-South issues.
