Zürich, Switzerland
About
Founded in 1985, Freiplatzaktion Zürich is a non-profit association based in Zürich, Switzerland working on refugees & migration, human rights, justice & legal aid.
Freiplatzaktion Zürich (FPA) is an independent association based in Zurich. It provides free, professional legal advice and representation to refugees, migrants and their relatives in asylum and migration law proceedings, and prioritises people of limited means in the cantons of Zurich and Glarus. Alongside casework, it writes appeals and requests, takes part in consultation procedures, intervenes with authorities, publishes a quarterly newsletter, runs public events and offers training on asylum and migration law. It campaigns for a solidarity-based asylum and migration policy, unrestricted access to rights and equal participation for all, and against racism and exclusion. Its roots go back to the 1973 Chilean refugee solidarity campaign and the wartime Freiplatzaktion of Pastor Paul Vogt; the Zurich association was founded in 1985.
