Fundación ATYME is a private, non-profit, non-denominational and independent foundation based in Madrid, Spain, holding public-benefit recognition. Its aim is to promote mediation and other peaceful ways of handling conflict among the population, based on respect, understanding of differing views, cooperation and dialogue. The foundation runs mediation services for couples, families, older people and healthcare settings, including inheritance and intergenerational disputes. It also carries out research, publishes studies and guides, trains mediators and promotes mediation in foundations and organisations. Its work is rooted in the Modelo de Competencia, developed from the early 1990s with the Programa de Mediación en Ruptura de Pareja, and it has delegations in several Spanish regions including Madrid, Valencia, Canarias, Zaragoza, Salamanca and Toledo. The foundation has been subsidised by public bodies, including the Comunidad de Madrid and the Spanish Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, for several of its programmes.
