Fundacja THORAX is a Polish public-benefit foundation based in Białystok, working to promote prevention, diagnosis and treatment of chest diseases, including lung cancer, breast cancer, asthma and COPD. It serves patients, their families and carers, and the medical community and wider public. Its activities include medical education meetings, breathing workshops, patient support groups, psychosocial support, caregiver training, awareness campaigns, and support for medical research. It runs the annual ONCOweek event and is funded largely by individual donations, including donations eligible for the 1.5% personal income tax allocation. The foundation also runs charity auctions and invites businesses and schools to participate.
