About

Founded in 1921, Genossenschaft Hilfe Zürich is a faith-based organisation based in Zürich, Switzerland working on humanitarian aid & disaster relief, poverty & hunger, health +1 more.

Genossenschaft Hilfe is the social relief organisation of the Evangelical Anabaptist congregations (ETG) in Switzerland. Founded in Zürich in 1921 as a cooperative, it provides aid to poor, sick and distressed people in Switzerland and abroad, and historically supported refugees from Eastern Europe, including in Vienna and southern Germany. Its current work focuses on poverty relief in South America and Africa, including Argentina, Ghana and Tanzania, and it issues appeals for emergency relief, such as after Hurricane Melissa in the Caribbean. Funding comes from donations and collections within the ETG congregations, and all donations are passed on in full to partner organisations and workers on the ground. Board members serve in a voluntary capacity. The organisation is tax-exempt, so donations are tax-deductible.
