GhanaFact

Founded in 2019, GhanaFact is a non-governmental organisation based in Accra, Ghana working on democracy & civil society, health.

GhanaFact is a project of FactSpace West Africa, a legally registered non-profit set up in August 2019 for fact-checking and news verification. Based in Accra, Ghana, it checks claims circulating in traditional and social media, with a focus on public interest areas such as politics, governance, the economy, elections and health. It publishes fact-check ratings and corrections, accepts claims and feedback from the public, and runs media literacy and misinformation training, including through a nationwide network of fact-checking journalists. The project operates across West Africa, including Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia and The Gambia. It states it has no funding relationship with political parties, politicians or state actors, and is a signatory to the IFCN Code of Principles.
