About
Global Surgery Foundation is a grant-making foundation based in Geneva, Switzerland working on health.
The Global Surgery Foundation is a Swiss foundation, established under the Swiss Civil Code, that works to improve access to safe, timely and affordable surgical, obstetric and anaesthesia care, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. It operates as a common platform for stakeholders, runs the SURGfund catalytic funding mechanism and the SURGhub platform, and empowers local implementers through funding, expert guidance and capacity building. It was initiated in 2016 following the Lancet Commission on Global Surgery and WHA Resolution 68.15, and developed from a UN-based initiative hosted by UNITAR into a standalone organisation based in Geneva.
