Heritage for Peace

Founded in 2013, Heritage for Peace is a non-governmental organisation based in Girona, Spain working on heritage, peace & conflict.

Heritage for Peace is a non-profit, non-governmental association founded in Girona, Spain, in 2013 under Catalan law. It is an international network of unpaid heritage professionals, academics and independent advisers who support heritage workers in conflict-affected countries to protect cultural heritage, including archaeological sites, monuments, museums, libraries, archives and religious heritage. Its work includes capacity building, documentation of damage, emergency rescue and site projects, and education on the protection of cultural heritage under international law. It works with all parties to the conflict and is active in Syria, Yemen, Libya, Iraq, Lebanon, Ethiopia, Sudan and Ukraine. Its motto is 'Unity through Diversity', and it treats heritage as a common ground for dialogue and peace-building.
