About
Founded in 1993, House of Hearing is a non-governmental organisation based in København K, Denmark working on health, mental health.
House of Hearing is a free, anonymous and impartial advisory service in Denmark for people affected by hearing loss, tinnitus, dizziness, ear diseases and related balance problems, as well as their relatives. Its advice combines professional expertise from clinicians and specialists with experience from peers who live with these conditions. Advice is provided by phone, by email and at monthly advisory evenings, and is offered nationwide. The organisation does not provide treatment or diagnosis; it guides people to relevant services and supports them in taking next steps. It was established in 1993 by psychologist Anne-Mette Mohr as psychosocial counselling under Høreforeningen and later became an independent voluntary organisation. It is funded by Socialstyrelsen, Fonden for Bedre Hørelse and the municipalities of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg. It also runs a podcast and themed evenings, and works with a cross-disciplinary network of advisers in the hearing and ear field.
