About

Founded in 1995, IBUKA Suisse is a non-governmental organisation based in Nyon, Switzerland working on human rights, justice & legal aid.

IBUKA Suisse is the Swiss section of IBUKA-Mémoire et Justice, a non-profit association founded in Geneva in 1995 as part of an organisation first established in Brussels in 1994 after the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. The association works to preserve the memory of the victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi, to pursue and bring to justice those responsible for the crimes, and to support and represent survivors, many of whom face complex trauma. It also confronts genocide denial, revisionism and trivialisation, and campaigns against impunity. Its activities in Switzerland include annual commemorations, including ceremonies in Geneva and online events, discussions on memory and youth, and public messages of solidarity. It invites people to donate, become members, or volunteer to help with events, projects, fundraising and communications.
