About

Founded in 2001, International Media Support is a non-governmental organisation based in Copenhagen, Denmark working on democracy & civil society, human rights, peace & conflict.

International Media Support (IMS) is a non-profit media development organisation headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, with regional offices across four continents. It works in more than 30 countries, particularly where independent media face the greatest risk, such as areas affected by armed conflict, humanitarian crises, political transition or authoritarian rule. IMS promotes press freedom, good journalism and the safety of journalists, challenges repressive laws, and supports local media organisations, journalists and civil society actors. Its work combines rapid response to emerging crises with long-term programmes developed in partnership with local and international media actors. IMS was founded in 2001 in the aftermath of conflicts in Rwanda and the Balkans, where media had been used to incite war. The organisation employs around 160 staff of more than 45 nationalities.
