Iustitia

Founded in 1990, Iustitia is a non-profit association based in Warszawa, Poland working on democracy & civil society, justice & legal aid, education.

Iustitia is the Stowarzyszenie Sędziów Polskich Iustitia, an association of Polish judges founded in 1990 and headquartered in Warszawa. It states that it has almost 3,600 members organised in 33 regional branches across Poland. Its stated mission is the defence of freedom, civil rights, judicial independence and the rule of law in a democratic Poland within the European Union. The association publishes opinions on draft legislation affecting the courts, commissions public opinion surveys and reports on the judiciary, and speaks in public debate. It also runs legal education activities for pupils and offers schools lessons on the rule of law, and it promotes civic education and legal knowledge among citizens. Some information, such as its newsletters and forum, is restricted to members. The association operates nationally and is a member of the International Association of Judges and MEDEL.
