About
Founded in 1972, Jääkäripataljoona 27:n perinneyhdistys is a non-profit association based in Helsinki, Finland working on heritage.
Jääkäripataljoona 27:n perinneyhdistys is a registered Finnish association founded in 1972. It is open to anyone interested in the Jäger (jääkäri) traditions and the life's work of the Jägers, who were Finnish volunteers trained in Germany during the First World War and who fought for Finnish independence. The association works to preserve the memory and spiritual heritage of Jäger Battalion 27 and the ideals behind its creation. It organises training sessions, lectures, discussions and study trips to Jäger sites in Finland and abroad, including Germany and Latvia. It publishes material on the Jägers, supports related research, maintains a library of Jäger literature and a photograph collection, and has regional branches across Finland. The association works closely with the Jääkärisäätiö (Jäger Foundation), which provides financial resources while the association runs the activities. Its membership was reported at slightly over 1,700 in 2022.
