Kaninværnet
København, Denmark
About
Kaninværnet is a non-profit association based in København, Denmark working on animal welfare, nature & wildlife conservation.
Kaninværnet is a Danish animal welfare association and the country's first and only animal welfare organisation focused exclusively on rabbit welfare. It works to reduce the dumping and neglect of rabbits and to improve their living conditions in Denmark. Its activities include running an emergency rescue team (Akutteam) that places rescued rabbits with foster families, operating a rabbit register for lost rabbits, and supporting rabbit rehoming through partnerships with rabbit shelters (internater) and adoption campaigns. The association produces public guidance on rabbit housing, diet, health, insurance and behaviour, runs a members' magazine, and organises rabbit medicine courses for veterinary professionals. It also campaigns for better rabbit welfare, including awareness work on the risks of abandoning pet rabbits and the importance of spaying and neutering. Its work is aimed at rabbit owners, prospective owners, veterinarians and the general public, with activity across Denmark.
