Keskkonnaõiguse Keskus

Founded in 2007, Keskkonnaõiguse Keskus is a non-governmental organisation based in Tartu, Estonia working on environment & climate, nature & wildlife conservation, justice & legal aid.

Keskkonnaõiguse Keskus (KÕK, Estonian Environmental Law Centre, EELC) is an independent expert organisation in Estonia, founded in 2007 as a foundation (sihtasutus). It works in the public interest on environmental law, providing legal advice and representation in environmental disputes, including planning, construction and use permits, noise, mineral extraction, nature conservation restrictions, forestry and waste. It also prepares legal analyses and commentaries, contributes to legislation and policy, trains local government and state officials, and runs public participation and information projects. Its work is partly funded by paid services, which it provides as a social enterprise, and by donations. It is a member of Justice and Environment and the Estonian Council of Environmental NGOs.
