About

KRAFT is a non-profit organisation based in Stockholm, Sweden working on science & research, democracy & civil society.

KRAFT is a researcher-initiated, party-politically and ideologically independent initiative in Sweden that strengthens dialogue between humanities and social science research and political decision-makers. It organises roundtables, seminars and dialogue meetings, builds networks between researchers and politicians, and produces research-policy analyses on the long-term conditions for humanities and social science research, such as organisation, funding and recruitment of researchers. Its target audience is elected politicians, particularly members of the Riksdag and its committees. KRAFT is hosted organisationally by the Institutet för framtidsstudier (IFFS), an independent research foundation, and is steered by a steering group and run by a coordinator, supported by a national expert network of more than 70 researchers from Swedish universities and research institutes. The initiative states that it is not a think tank or lobbying organisation. Its activities are funded by several research-linked foundations and academies.
