About
Founded in 1919, Kristna Fredsrörelsen is a non-profit association based in Stockholm, Sweden working on peace & conflict, human rights, democracy & civil society.
Kristna Fredsrörelsen (Christian Peace Movement) is a Swedish non-profit association working for peace, justice, a society free from violence and a sustainable way of living. Internationally, it protects threatened human rights defenders and supports peace actors in conflict areas, including in Colombia, Mexico, Guatemala, South Sudan and Ukraine. In Sweden, it conducts public advocacy and adult education for peace, offers nonviolence and civil courage training, runs youth peacebuilding work such as Peacelab Farsta, and supports church and local peace work. It is funded mainly by public grants, with additional income from membership fees, individual gifts, foundations and legacies. The movement was founded in 1919 by people who held that bearing arms and participating in war is incompatible with Christian faith. Its work is open to people of different faiths and worldviews, and it is organised through local groups and a head office in Stockholm.
