Laurits Andersens Fond is a Danish grant-making foundation founded by Laurits Andersen (1849-1928), a Danish engineer and businessman who built a large tobacco manufacturing business in China. The foundation's main purpose is to promote Danish trade and industry, with a particular focus on China. It awards scholarships for Chinese language study in China, grants for studies and internships in Asia, and support for maskinmester students and engineers, economists and merchants pursuing further education abroad. It also makes small annual donations to charitable associations in Denmark and abroad, and it maintains the grave of its founder in Shanghai. Applications are submitted through the online system Grant, with deadlines on 1 May and 1 November.
