Lekarze bez Granic (Médecins Sans Frontières, Polish foundation) is an independent international medical humanitarian organisation. Its Polish office, opened in March 2022 in Warsaw, supports field operations mainly through recruitment, fundraising and crisis awareness. The organisation provides free medical care, including surgery, maternal and child health, mental health support, vaccination and treatment of infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria and HIV/AIDS, to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and populations excluded from healthcare. It works in more than 70 countries, and its work includes regular public advocacy on humanitarian law violations and access to medicines. It is funded mainly by private individual donations and does not accept funds from governments or the EU. The Polish foundation is registered in the National Court Register (KRS) and holds public benefit status, allowing taxpayers to allocate 1.5% of their income tax.
