The Mediterraneo Video Festival is an international documentary film competition focused on the cultural landscape of the Mediterranean. It is run by MED FEST A.P.S., also known as MEDFEST Onlus, a cultural association. The festival provides a space for independent and often overlooked documentary productions, promotes respect for local identities and intercultural dialogue, and gives authors, producers and distributors a showcase. It is held each September in the Cilento area of Campania, Italy, in towns such as Ascea, Caselle in Pittari, Agropoli, Capaccio Paestum and Morigerati, with screenings, masterclasses, workshops and special events. The association also runs the Medcinelab documentary workshops for schools, and supports cultural activities that preserve the intangible heritage of the region. Participation is free of entry fees for screenings, and films are archived in the Archivio delle Culture Mediterranee for non-profit public screenings.
