MOV Lucania is a volunteer association based in Lauria, Basilicata, active since 1996 and inspired by the spirit of Don Orione. It is registered in the Italian national register of Third Sector entities (RUNTS) as a volunteer organisation. It provides social assistance and care to elderly people, people with disabilities, young people at risk, children in difficulty, orphans, migrants and refugees, and runs cultural, educational, recreational and sports activities. Its work includes music therapy and occupational workshops, programmes for refugees, an annual book festival and European adult-education projects. The association is apolitical and staffed by lay volunteers with the support of experts.
