Muslimische Seelsorge Zürich is the operating name of QuaMS, a non-profit association founded in 2017 in the canton of Zürich. The association ensures quality assurance for Muslim spiritual care in public institutions in the canton. It provides individual spiritual counselling and accompaniment for affected people and their relatives in hospitals, emergency situations, elderly and nursing homes, and asylum centres. Services include a round-the-clock telephone and internet spiritual care line, and it coordinates volunteer spiritual carers who complete a structured training and internship before being admitted to the volunteer pool. The association was established as a transitional organisation to support the Vereinigung der Islamischen Organisationen in Zürich (VIOZ) in securing quality in spiritual care services, and it operates as a joint project of the VIOZ and the canton of Zürich. Its work is overseen by a supervisory commission made up of the Evangelical Reformed and Roman Catholic cantonal churches. The organisation runs asylum spiritual care in federal asylum centres in Zürich-Duttweiler and Embrach, in collaboration with the State Secretariat for Migration.
