Nadácia Aigyptos

Founded in 1995, Nadácia Aigyptos is a foundation based in Bratislava, Slovakia working on heritage, science & research, arts & culture.

Nadácia Aigyptos is a Slovak foundation established in 1995 to support Slovak Egyptological research and present Ancient Egyptian history and culture to the Slovak public. It co-ordinates Slovak participation in the Polish-Slovak archaeological excavation at Tell el-Retábí in Egypt, which has run since 2007 in cooperation with the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. The foundation also maintains a specialised Egyptological library in Bratislava, organises lectures and popular events, and supports basic research in Slovakia. Its activities are funded by sponsoring gifts and by donations from individuals who direct 2% of their paid income tax to the foundation. The foundation's legal successor is Nadácia Gedíd Aigyptos, which took over its assets and activities after the earlier foundation was liquidated.
