About

Ocean Gardener is a non-governmental organisation based in Kuta, Indonesia working on nature & wildlife conservation, environment & climate, education.

Ocean Gardener is a Bali-based non-profit working to restore degraded coral reefs across Indonesia. It grows corals in nurseries set up with resorts, dive shops and local communities, then outplants the fragments onto damaged reefs, with restoration sites in Amed, Nusa Penida and Lipah Bay. Alongside restoration, it runs coral education for local communities and students, offers courses and volunteer and intern placements, and works with academic institutions, government bodies and other conservation organisations on research and outreach. Its work builds on more than 25 years of coral farming experience and includes a pilot real-time map logging new plantings and reports of coral predators. The organisation was established in 2016 and is active across Indonesia.
