Pesaleidja

Founded in 2009, Pesaleidja is a non-profit association based in Tallinn, Estonia working on animal welfare.

Pesaleidja MTÜ is a non-profit animal shelter in Tallinn, Estonia, run largely by volunteers. It helps homeless and mistreated animals by providing temporary shelter, care and treatment at its shelter and through foster homes, and works to find them permanent homes. The organisation also runs a reuse shop whose proceeds support the animals, and a partner clinic, Pesaleidja Loomakliinik OÜ, which gives discounted treatment and passes part of its profit to the association. It has operated a pilot shelter inside Tartu prison and previously helped the Valga animal shelter. Funding comes from donations, adoption fees and goods donations, and its annual accounts are audited by an independent expert. Donors can support it through one-off or monthly payments, and volunteers can take part in animal care, fundraising and other tasks. Since 2012 the shelter has operated from Tammsaare tee 89 in Tallinn, and it reports caring for more than 400 animals at a time.
