About
Proyecto Tití is a non-governmental organisation based in Barranquilla, Colombia working on nature & wildlife conservation, environment & climate, education +2 more.
Proyecto Tití is a multi-disciplinary conservation organisation working to protect the critically endangered cotton-top tamarin (Saguinus oedipus) and the tropical dry forests it inhabits in northern Colombia. Its work combines long-term field research on wild and managed tamarins, forest protection and restoration, including a privately owned reserve in San Juan Nepomuceno, and a Conservation Corridors Partnership with farmers. Community programmes cover environmental education in rural schools, sustainable livelihoods such as artisan and small-business support, and ecotourism. The organisation is based in Barranquilla and works in the Caribbean region of Colombia, with Colosó, Santa Catalina and Sucre municipalities among its key sites. Fundación Proyecto Tití operates in Colombia, and Proyecto Tití, Inc. is its counterpart in the United States, established in 2004 as a 501(c)(3). The two entities act as one team with a shared objective of securing a future for cotton-top tamarins and their forests.
