About
Proyecto Tití is a non-governmental organisation based in Barranquilla, Colombia working on nature & wildlife conservation, environment & climate, education +1 more.
Proyecto Tití is a multi-disciplinary conservation programme dedicated to protecting the critically endangered cotton-top tamarin (Saguinus oedipus) and the tropical dry forests it inhabits in northern Colombia. Its Colombian entity, Fundación Proyecto Tití, is a nonprofit based in Barranquilla, operating alongside Proyecto Tití, Inc., a US 501(c)(3) that supports the work from the United States. The organisation combines long-term field research on wild and managed tamarins, forest protection and restoration (including the Los Titíes de San Juan Forest Reserve and reforestation with farmers), environmental education in schools and communities, and sustainable livelihood programmes such as artisan crafts and ecotourism. Its stated goal is a future in which healthy tamarin populations live in forests protected by individuals, communities and the Colombian government. Work is centred in the Caribbean region of Colombia, including Sucre, Atlántico, Bolívar and Córdoba.
