The Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Azeitão is a Catholic charitable brotherhood founded in 1621 in Azeitão, near Setúbal, Portugal. It is governed by a canonical charter with the União das Misericórdias Portuguesas and holds the legal status of an IPSS (private institution of social solidarity) and public utility. Guided by the Fourteen Works of Mercy, bodily and spiritual, it provides elderly care through a day centre, home support services and a senior residence, offers home-based health and social care, runs clinical and social consultations, and recruits volunteers. Its income comes from donations, bequests and benefactors, and donors can allocate a share of their income tax (IRS) to it. The institution operates from its base in Azeitão and at a day centre in Brejos de Azeitão, and also manages a car park at Creiro in the Serra da Arrábida during summer months in partnership with a local association.
