ScienceetCité is a non-profit Swiss foundation founded in 1998 and based in Bern, acting as a national competence centre for dialogue between science and society. It runs its own low-threshold and innovative projects, strengthens networking within the science communication community, advises actors from science and culture on strategy, and offers continuing education to help researchers engage with the public. Its work covers children and youth, the broader population and citizen science. Regional branches exist in French-speaking Switzerland through the Réseau romand ScienceetCité, an association with around 50 members across seven cantons, and in Italian-speaking Switzerland through the Lideatorio of the Università della Svizzera italiana. The foundation is attached to the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences and its basic funding comes from a federal contribution to the Academies, with projects financed through service agreements and project partnerships. It does not award grants itself.
