The Sem Pringpuangkeo Foundation was established to provide educational and social support to orphans affected by HIV/AIDS in the six upper northern provinces of Thailand. Over 1,000 underprivileged orphans from rural districts in Chiang Rai, Phayao, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Mae Hong Son and Lampang have continued their education from kindergarten to university level with support from donors and organisations. The foundation aims to break cycles of homelessness, drug addiction, crime and prostitution affecting children, reduce economic and social gaps, and provide mentoring visits by its staff. It runs offices in Chiang Rai and Bangkok, offers foster parent sponsorship, accepts donations to cover administration costs, and places unpaid volunteers and interns in its work with orphans. The foundation is registered as a charitable organisation under the Thai Ministry of Finance, so donations are tax deductible.
